Probation Service Officer – Tulse Hill

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Probation Service Officer. The post holder will manage residents subject to post-custodial licence conditions, ensuring compliance with all requirements, and will contribute to the supervision and ongoing risk management of individuals residing at the Approved Premises.

Location: Tulse Hill, London  
Contract: 3 months (to be extended)
Work hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £24.48 per hour Umbrella, £18.59 PAYE  

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
 

  • Conduct resident induction sessions upon arrival to the Approved Premises, ensuring individuals understand house rules, expectations, and support available.
  • Facilitate daily briefings with residents to discuss routines, reinforce pro-social behavior, and address any issues affecting their compliance or well-being.
  • Follow operational procedures and guidance relevant to Approved Premises, including resident supervision protocols and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ensure Health & Safety and security procedures are followed, reporting concerns promptly and completing all associated documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including contributing to reviews of individual and premises-based risk assessments.
  • Undertake dynamic risk assessments as needed during shifts, responding to emerging risks and managing them appropriately.
  • Use motivational interviewing, pro-social modelling, and other supportive techniques to encourage residents to comply with their licence conditions and engage with interventions.
  • Monitor residents’ attendance at curfew, appointments, and programmes, supporting successful completion of their licence period and reducing risk of reoffending.

 
Person Specification:
 

  • Evidence of commitment to team work
  • Effective inter-personal skills with the ability to supervise people constructively while maintaining authority
  • Evidence of problem-solving within a workplace or similar environment
  • Knowledge of safety at work, public protection and risk of harm in all aspects of work
  • Basic knowledge of First Aid and willingness to undertake further training
  • IOSH L3 or equivalent and a willingness to attend further training
  • Achieve a Certificate of professional competency – Minibus driver training
  • Achieve and maintain the appropriate qualification to assess service user qualification for an NVQ award during work placement activity
  • Ability to model pro-social attitudes and behaviour to service users
  • Good written communication skills
  • A current Enhanced DBS check is required for this role, which we can process for you
