Red Snapper Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Disclosure Investigator to work on a full-time, long-term contract with a local police force in Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Job purpose:

To perform the role of Exhibits and Disclosure officer within Sheffield District, playing a key role in the preparation of case files and disclosure schedules for investigations within the department. 


  • Attend at Magistrates/Crown Court to give evidence in relation to Disclosure matters or as a witness of fact.
  • Perform the role of Disclosure Officer in Sheffield District for a specific non recent case of sexual abuse. This will include being responsible for the examination and revelation of all relevant unused material gathered during the criminal investigation. The completion of detailed, accurate, comprehensive and ethical disclosure schedules, making decisions as to the sensitivity of the material in accordance with the Disclosure Manual and CPIA (1996). Apply the disclosure test and highlight material that meets this test of assisting the defence or undermining the case for the prosecution.
  • Be responsible for preparing disclosure schedules for review by the prosecution. Comply with the obligations to retain and record all relevant material and to review and reveal it to the prosecutor. Be able to liaise with the SIO, the Prosecutor and Prosecuting Counsel in relation to disclosure issues.
  • Prepare complex case files for offences investigated by the Major Crime Unit.  When necessary obtain any outstanding evidence required in order to prepare the full file to the satisfaction of the Prosecuting Counsel.
  • Undertake any investigative actions, when required, as directed by the SIO as part of the investigation team. This may include viewing CCTV, making telecoms applications, conducting witness enquiries as directed by the Crown Prosecution Service and any other appropriate enquiries as directed by the Major Incident Room.
  • Trace witnesses, obtain availability and/or warn to attend court to give evidence. Ensure that all relevant intelligence is submitted in line with legislation.
  • Remain up-to-date and knowledgeable with current legislation, understanding and cascading changes in legislation to colleagues. In line with CPIA (1996) and the National Disclosure Improvement Plan (NDIP) Board.
  • Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with the CPS and prosecution advocates.



Must be PIP 2 accredited
Previous knowledge of working in a Major Incident room and working knowledge of Holmes database
