Red Snapper Justice are part of a niche recruitment agency, who provide staffing services to the offender management and criminal justice sectors.

We are recruiting on behalf of our client based in the Black Country area for a Women’s Justice Worker to identify vulnerable women and provide effective support to address their homelessness.

This is a permanent full time role which offers a salary of £24,065 - £25,508.90.

Full driving license and access to own vehicle is required for this role.

Main Duties:

  • Provide an intensive support service to women who are homeless or are at risk of entering the criminal justice system, aimed at securing and maintaining safe accommodation.
  • Manage a caseload which involves all aspects of case management including: risk assessment, needs assessment, support planning, outcomes, case review and ensuring that the case management databases are up to date with relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Working to an agreed regular timetable, provide an outreach service in order to identify and actively engage women in need of support, build trust and offer support.
  • Provide strengths-based support, underpinned by motivational interviewing, which makes clients feel empowered and enables them to make informed choices.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions, prioritizing basic needs, which ultimately address clients’ homelessness  or offending behaviour and/or support them to maintain accommodation if needed.
  • Respond to multiple presenting issues including domestic violence, sexual violence, sex work, exploitation, substance misuse and offending, offering advice, initial interventions and risk reduction.
  • Support women to engage with other services including health, parenting, immigration and substance misuse programmes.
  • Develop effective partnerships to assist identification of vulnerable women, locate appropriate accommodation and support women to access/maintain it.
  • Develop and maintain strong operational partnerships with agencies to develop a "one-stop shop" from the bus for a range of needs (sexual health/housing/substance misuse/interpersonal abuse).
  • Attend multi-agency women’s homelessness board meetings to share intelligence on women’s needs and join up support.
  • Ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the Head of Service or, if unavailable, another manager/senior.
  • Have an understanding of all aspects of female offending, women’s homelessness, domestic abuse, sexual violence and trafficking to be able to advise agencies and clients of entitlements, services and support available and their referral pathways.

Essential Requirements:

  • GCSEs English and Mathematics – Grade C or above.
  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 in housing, law or a relevant subject working with adults or children, or a relevant degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience, or a vocational qualification.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people and people with complex needs, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately.
  • Experience of handling a caseload.
  • Have direct experience working with homelessness.
  • Have experience of delivering evidence-based interventions and/or working in an evidence-based outcomes-focused framework.
