Accommodation Finding Officer

Red Snapper Justice are part of a niche recruitment agency, who provide staffing services to the offender management and criminal justice sectors.

We are recruiting on behalf of our Birmingham based client for an Accommodation Finding Officer to support the development and day-to-day operation of the Accommodation Finding Service. Ensuring is it operating within legislative requirements and deliver key Directorate priorities and targets.

This is a temporary on going role initially for 3 months and offers a rate of pay of £14.19 per hour.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure suitable alternative housing supply is sourced that meets the wide-ranging housing needs of homeless or at risk of homelessness households.
  • Support the service to successfully and actively secure suitable housing solutions for homeless or at risk of homeless households. Ensure outcomes are delivered in compliance with statutory requirements and agreed service standards.
  • Support the growth of Private Rented Sector (PRS) properties and alternative housing solutions by building on networks and developing relationships with PRS landlords, Housing Associations and other housing providers.
  • Undertake viability analysis, market appraisals and monitor homelessness PRS discharge outcomes to ensure the right types of housing solutions are being secured. 
  • Manage the process of setting up tenancies including all associated paperwork e.g. tenancy agreements, inventories, processing of incentive schemes. 
  • Ensure statutory property safety checks have been completed and building conditions meet appropriate legislation. 
  • Support the development of marketing material and activities to help ensure service targets are met and there is a constant flowing pipeline of new properties.
  • Forge strong and effective partnership working arrangements with internal and external stakeholders who can assist to deliver the housing supply and growth strategy.
  • Conduct extensive research activities that help to address complex operational issues.
  • Monitor and report on service performance, including analyse information from a variety of data sources and present service information to a range of stakeholders in various formats.
  • Deliver training and awareness briefings to staff and other stakeholders.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of property letting contract management and working effectively with landlords.
  • Experience of tenancy management, preferably in the private rented sector environment.
  • Experience of developing effective relationships and working in partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good experience of working in a sales/marketing or business development role.
  • Successful track record of exceeding KPIs within a sales environment.
  • Good understanding of processes and issues in relation to marketing and letting of private rented properties.
  • Knowledge of sale and marketing principles and practices. 
  • Knowledge of relevant Private Rented Sector, Homelessness and Housing legislation.
  • Knowledge of other relevant legislation and their implications for the Directorate (e.g. FOI, Data Protection Act, Health and Safety).
