Housing Solution and Support Caseworker Manager

Red Snapper Justice are part of a niche recruitment agency, who provide staffing services to the offender management and criminal justice sectors.

We are recruiting on behalf of our Birmingham based client for a Housing Solution and Support Caseworker Manager to support the development and day-to-day operation of the Support Case Service. Ensuring is it operating within legislative requirements and statutory targets for homelessness and pre-tenancy services. 

This is a temporary on going role initially for 3 months and offers a rate of pay of £18.78 per hour.

Main Duties:

  • Support the Strategic Lead to ensure the service delivers customer focused housing solutions and support that help to eradicate and reduce risks of homelessness.
  • Maintain extensive and specialist knowledge of Homelessness and relevant Housing legislation, case law and guidance as well as local and national policies in order to provide expert advice and guidance to staff, colleagues, council members and other external stakeholders.
  • Deliver training and awareness briefings to staff and stakeholders. Provide expert advice on homelessness and facilitate advice surgeries.
  • Designated officer responsibility for undertaking operational decisions relating to Homelessness Policy.
  • Support the service to embed a homeless prevention, effective case management and continuous improvement culture within the service that is focused on responding to the changing needs of customers and legislation.
  • Conduct statutory homeless reviews impartially and ensure review decisions are made in compliance with relevant policies, legislation and case law. Compile case bundles for court proceedings and when required represent the Council at court hearings.
  • Conduct research and data analysis activities to understand the real problems to solve for customers, help the service to address highly complex operational/performance issues and introduce new housing solutions and support services.
  • To act as the service lead at relevant multi-agency meetings and represent the client at internal and external meetings and other forums, as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience of working in a management role with contentious decision-making responsibilities and experience of resolving complex problems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Homelessness legislation and relevant Housing legislation. 
  • Good experience of managing frontline staff and services in a performance management environment (preferably within a housing context).
  • Good experience of managing frontline services and delivering services to customers with highly complex needs.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with partners and other stakeholders to develop effective partnership working arrangements.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting highly complex and sensitive data and reports.  
  • Knowledge of other relevant legislation and their implications for the Directorate (e.g. FOI, Data Protection Act, Health and Safety).
  • Effective management skills with the ability to build and maintain a supportive working environment and deliver effective case management supervision.
