We are urgently recruiting a CCTV Coordinator to support Derbyshire Police in a high-profile murder investigation. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major enquiry as part of the force’s Major Incident Room (MIR).
As the CCTV Coordinator, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing, retrieving, and preparing CCTV footage for evidential use. You’ll operate and maintain CCTV systems, assist with footage recovery from scenes, liaise with internal teams and external agencies, and ensure all activity complies with legal, operational, and technical standards.
Monitoring & Operation:
Operate and monitor live CCTV feeds in support of major incidents
Respond to alarms, out-of-hours requests, and time-sensitive events
Maintain detailed logs of events and system activity
Evidence Management:
Retrieve, download, and compile CCTV footage from crime scenes
Produce evidential footage and prepare witness statements
Assist with the preparation of footage for court presentation
Attend court as required to provide evidence related to CCTV exhibits
Technical Support:
Provide guidance on the use, maintenance, and capabilities of CCTV systems
Troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with system owners and technicians
Conduct diagnostics and quality assurance checks on CCTV equipment
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with investigators, forensic teams, and partner agencies
Communicate effectively across various channels (radio, telephone, email)
Build strong relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders
General Support:
Prioritise workloads in a fast-paced investigation environment
Maintain the confidentiality and security of CCTV operations
Ensure all work complies with GDPR, data protection laws, and internal procedures
Experience operating and managing CCTV systems and digital recording equipment
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to analyse footage and compile evidential material
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Confident working independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including GDPR and data protection law
Experience liaising with law enforcement and understanding criminal justice procedures is highly desirable
Candidates must hold valid NPPV3 or SC clearance, issued by a UK police force within the last 12 months. Unfortunately, we cannot consider applications without active vetting.
Derbyshire – working within the Major Incident Room on a live and complex investigation
12-week contract initially, with high likelihood of extension
£21–£23 per hour, depending on experience (via umbrella company, inside IR35)
