Red Snapper Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client, the National Probation Service, for a qualified Probation Officer to join the team at Redbridge PDU based in Ilford, London.
As a Probation Officer, you will be central to sentence management and offender rehabilitation. You will work with people on probation, assessing risk, completing OASys assessments, and supporting change through structured supervision. Your work will directly contribute to protecting the public and helping individuals rebuild their lives.
Complete OASys assessments and maintain accurate, up-to-date contact records
Manage risk effectively, working flexibly with individuals on probation
Deliver sentence management in line with statutory requirements
Supervise individuals in the community and ensure compliance with court orders
Collaborate with internal teams and partner agencies to support rehabilitation
Use a person-centred approach to motivate change and reduce reoffending
Ensure all interventions and decision-making are defensible and evidence-based
A recognised Probation Officer qualification (e.g., DipPS, PQiP, or equivalent)
Strong working knowledge of OASys, risk management, and community supervision
Experience of working with high-risk offenders, including violent and sexual offences
Excellent communication, planning, and report-writing skills
A flexible and professional approach with a strong ethical framework
Ability to work collaboratively across agencies to manage complex cases
An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required

Hourly rate: £22.10 p/h PAYE or £29.09 Umbrella
Start Date: asap, vetting pending
Contract: 9 months (with possible extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week
