RSR Justice are a niche recruitment agency, who provide staffing services to the offender management and criminal justice sectors.

RSR Justice are currently recruiting for experienced Senior Probation Officers (SPOs) to undertake temporary roles with London CRC. We have vacancies in the offices in Hounslow and Merton.

The main duties of the SPO will be to lead, manage and coordinate the work of the local offender management unit’s in prisons across South London. To develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal customers, key stakeholders and external agency partners in the Criminal Justice System and related bodies. To meet performance targets and ensure high quality service delivery in accordance with London CRC’s Business Plan objectives and the priorities set by the National Offender Management Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage service delivery to meet performance targets
  • Manage risk of harm, MAPPA and SFO arrangements
  • Review and manage resources against targets
  • Be accountable and empower and enable others in team
  • Assist Area Manager in planning change and with evaluation of change programmes
  • Provide leadership in your area of responsibility
  • Promote London CRC’s vision and mission statement to internal and external audiences
  • Provide effective supervision/coaching/appraisal
  • Reduce sickness absence through implementing CRC policy
  • Respond appropriately to capability /grievance /harassment /complaints issues
  • Liaise with staff to receive, collate and analyse information, developing systems and compiling reports as necessary


Skills and Qualifications

  • Management experience within the Criminal Justice system
  • Post qualification work experience for a minimum of 2 years
  • Staff Management Skills
  • Experience of project management and/or establishing and developing partnerships with external agencies
  • Ability to lead and manage a team to maximise performance and quality against targets and hold staff accountable
  • Ability to manage resources and budgets
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and direct the work of the unit, to ensure the most effective and efficient use of available resources
  • Ability to use a range of communication skills, both written, oral and presentational, in a variety of settings
  • Ability to represent the service with external partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to ensure compliance with administrative and operational policies, procedures and business processes
  • Ability to undertake quality audits and inspections of offender management work

 

You will need to possess good IT skills and be able to ensure work is completed accurately within the timescales required. You will be able to multi-agency work to ensure the needs of the offender are supported.

You will be able to communicate effectively with others, including Court staff and Offenders and have the ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies and your team.

A current DBS is required for this role, which we can process for you, along with a relevant qualification - DipPS, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent of another Probation or Social Work related qualification.
